This photo, of the west side of the building, shows five different elements of the exterior wall assembly: OSB (oriented strand board), the air barrier (Tyvek), the insulation (mineral wool), wood strapping (to hold siding and create air space), and finally, fibre cement panels (siding). And in the foreground, Mother Nature added a lovely finish of her own today, in the form of beautiful hoarfrost.
